Bad Beat at the Local Brick and Mortar
So the Cobster and I decided we are in the mood for some poker so we pack up our laptops at work and immediately head down the highway to go play some no limit poker action at Casino Niagara. We stroll down there in my buddies Infiniti and we have the tunes pumpin as we are feelin that we are going to make some cash at the casino. We light up the bank machine put our name on the list and proceeded to go to the bar and wait for our names to be called. The only no limit table they had going was a $1-$2. I bought in for $100 and I was ready for some action.
So I’m sitting at this table with a bunch of dudes who literally think they should all have World Series of Poker bracelets on. That’s what I love about poker at the casino all of a sudden everyone thinks they are fantastic. So, I literally get no action for about the first half an hour, its actually quite embarrassing the cards that I was getting, as an example for two consecutive hands I received the hammer (7,2) like give me a freakin break here. It took me over an hour do get a bloody pocket pair and it would eventually turn out to be a pair of ducks (pair of two’s). Thanks dealer, can’t wait to tip ya.
I finally get a good hand and it’s the big slick I’m thinking here we go finally some action. I raise pre-flop and get some callers, now the flop comes A♥A♠9♣, I hit the set right on the flop. So I promptly check cause I knew if I bet it would be a giveaway, everyone at the table checks. The turn card comes and its another 9, so now I’ve got the full boat and I make a small bet to hopefully entice more guys to call and no one did so there’s my first big hand and got absolutely nothing out of it. I won another hand there shortly after and I was finally seeing some cards and able to play a little looser.
I’m on the button now and I get dealt the K♠5♠ and all I had to do was call the big blind too see the flop so I did. The flop comes K♥5♣2♠. So I’m absolutely ecstatic with that flop. The action is to me and I bet and I have three callers. The turn comes and it’s the 10♠, so now I’ve got two pair and I’m on a flush draw. One guy at the table who has been real loose decides to bet so I raise his bet and another guy re-raises me to put me all-in. The other guy he folds and I call the bet. We both turn our cards over and he shows us he has KJ, and I show my K5 suited and immediately knew I was the heavy favorite. So I’m all-in and this pot has about $200 in it, here comes the flop and it’s a goddamn Jack, I couldn’t believe it. So I ended up losing on the bloody river. This guy thought he played the hand so well and he would talk shit after words like give me a freakin break bud you hit your card on the bloody river and you think you have skills. Gotta love the locals at the Brick and Mortar.
So I immediately got up out of my chair, promptly pounded my beer and I beat it outta there. The kid was steaming and had enough poker for one night atleast in the casino. I thought about playing some online poker at Poker Party
but reconsidered when I got onto my couch and promptly shut er down for the evening.
